Reflection
I don’t think that I’ve grown too significantly during this year, but I have progressed a little bit. One of my biggest flaws in writing has always been using simple vocabulary. I believe that I have improved in that respect; simply by the amount of writing that we have done this year. The lists of tone words that we learned helped me improve in that area. I feel confident that the wording in my AP essays was better than it was a year ago. Something I found challenging this year was the amount of analysis we had to do on a single work. When poems only consist of a few lines, I find it difficult to discern some deep and meaningful message. I think that I have improved enough not to struggle with those kinds of situations. Now I can look at a short poem and write at least three or four paragraphs without any kind of trouble. This is in part because of the techniques we learned this year, like TPCASTT and AEC. Looking back, these things do seem small to me now, but they provided a significant improvement in my writing skills.
